SHE’S A BLOGGER
It’s official, my wife has a blog, and she set it up all by herself. I was very impressed, and a small tear of pride rolled down my cheek as she explained to me how she already set up google analytics.
You should go over to www.juliekey.tumblr.com and check it out. Most likely she will be better at blogging than me. In general, she is better at things than I am.

ATHENS HERE WE COME
Yes, it’s true. For those of you who haven’t heard yet, the Keys are moving to Athens Georgia. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, and if you had asked us a month ago what our plans were neither Julie or I would have told you that we planned on moving to Georgia or even moving at all. However, in the past three weeks we have seen many doors open wide in front of us, and we have landed on the decision to move to Athens.
The best part of the move is Julie’s awesome new job. She will be working as a PA at Georgia Renal Associates and is really excited to start working there. I will also have a new job which is going to be crazy because I will be working for MYSELF. Yes, I will be a full-time artist/painter. We both can’t believe that we have this opportunity to have our dream jobs. It’s just awesome. I guess this also means that I will have to do some major overhauling of this blog as well as a new website so you can see/buy all of my new paintings.

The countdown to the move date is two weeks. Anybody have any packing tips? I think the move date will sneak up on us sooner than we think.

RATATAT’S NEW VIDEO

I love to listen to my Pandora radio station as I work, and lately the stations I am listening to have a good mix of Ratatat. I love this music style for many reasons but mostly because it has no words so it doesn’t distract me from my work. Today I stumbled upon their latest music video and I LOVE IT. It’s so awkward, weird, somewhat creepy, and, I think, hilarious. I cant think of a better way to use footage of a stock photo shoot.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

I recently stumbled upon a Brooklyn-based web magazine, theScout , and I have been enamored with their series of videos on craftsmanship. Not only are the videos well made and at times quite humorous, but the stories they tell are truly inspiring. I think the above video of the Mast Brothers is my favorite. I’m pretty sure it’s because one of the brothers shares the beloved gift of the Red Beard. Their pursuit of a true handmade product while trying to incorporate a sense of adventure into a chocolate bar is a creative process that is unique and inspired. From their chocolate making process, to the hand-wrapped butcher paper packaging, to their recent plans to sail to the Dominican Republic themselves in search of beans and a connection with the people who grow them, that to me is true craftsmanship.

TRUCK FARM

I found this the other day, and I like what these guys are doing. If I had an old truck, this is definitely something I would consider doing. I think about just how much time my car sits out in the parking lot every day. All that sun time wasted.

Find out more about their project here

Seriously, does anyone have an old truck i can have?

HOME RENOVATION IN PHOTOSHOP

It was super hot outside today, so we decided early that the day would be spent inside our somewhat cooler cottage. After watching the third or forth HGTV show, I was inspired to give our house a little home improvement. Unfortunately, we are still renting, so our renovation options are limited. So, if you can’t do something in real life you do it in photoshop right? I decided that the house could use some new exterior paint, so with the help of my lovely  wife and a little photoshop magic, here are a few new looks for our little cottage. The first picture is our house now ( Plain white and boring ). It’s amazing to see how much better this place could look with some paint. We both really wish we could paint this place now. Which one is your favorite?

Took a few days off last week, and the wife and I shared a cabin with my family in Maggie Valley. The cabin was great. It had a real log cabin feel, and with no internet, It was a nice break from the my normal wired day to day. My favorite part was the spectacular view. We spent a lot of time on this porch, just sitting. There is a lot more video to sort through from the vacation. I hope to have some more videos here soon.

Well apparently Tumblr is still harboring sour feelings about the usage animated GIFs. I guess a non-looping mov. file will have to do. Then again, I guess that means this isn’t a animated GIF anymore. Now it’s just a poor quality stop motion clip. Oh well, I still think it’s funny

ANIMATED GIF ACTION!
So, recently around the office we have been having a little animated GIF fun. We all agree that these things got a bad wrap. There is still lots of good clean fun to be had with some simple frame animation. For example, here is Trevor doing a little disc golf jig. Trevor likes to dance, and It’s his birthday! Happy Birthday Friend!
